19th May 2012 - Bedfordshire Trophy19th May 2012 - Bedfordshire Trophy

Wow what a start to the new season........weather was not what we had expected for May but we found ourselves a little gem of a course and as a result we had by far the best scoring we have ever seen in a tour event.  The winning score itself was a impressive 43 points but added to that we had 5 players scoring 40 points or more and an amazing 14 players going under their handicaps.

So to the winner and a very popular one at that as Guy Maddison hit a fantastic gross 87 to secure his first ever tour title amassing a huge 43 point total. Guy beat his previous best gross round on tour by 7 shots and could even afford to blob the par 3 6th hole!  A hugely consistent round from Guy including 3 gross pars and a birdie, with mainly bogies on the other holes, making Guy our first winner on the 2012/13 season.  Congratulations Guy, a brilliant round.

Special mention aswell to our other top 5 players - who all could have won with their 40+ points total's.  Ian Overson hit the round of his life coming in 6 over par after a gross 76, but falling 1 point short of Guy's winning total.  Extremely unlucky Ian but great great round nonetheless.

Brett Beadsworth also could have been walking away with the title on another day after his best ever round on tour...a gross 86 giving Beado a 41 point total.

And at one stage of the day we thought we were going to get our first ever tour play-off as clubhouse leaders Andy Lewis and Billy McGowan were sitting pretty at the top of the leaderboard having both come home with 40 points.  And yes you've guessed it both players hitting their best ever gross rounds on tour!.

15th April 2012 - Ryder Cup XI15th April 2012 - Ryder Cup XI

The KCTour Ryder Cup produced an absolute classic which saw the Blues snatch a last gasp victory from the Reds. The match was level after day 1 at 11 points all after the Reds took charge from the fourballs but the Blues bounced back with a solid greensomes performance.

Day 2 saw the Reds produce a dominant display in the fourballs to take a 6 point lead into the singles and were looking favourites to win a 3rd consecutive Ryder Cup. This was not to be as the Blues produced a stunning comeback to level the match at 26 ½ points each with the final 2 matches still out on the course. Knibby and Ady held firm at the rear guard to add the final 2 points to the Blues tally.

Congratulations to the Blues....Bring on September....

24th March 2012 - The Masters24th March 2012 - The Masters

Well, the sun was shining brightly and we had to wait til the final group stepped off the 18th green to find out we had a new Masters Champion as Rich Nicholson won his debut tour event and walked away with the lucrative Green Jacket to become the tours sixth Major winner.

With a gross round of 90, for a 42 stableford point total, including 4 pars and a birdie, and giving Rich his lowest score on tour for a fantastic maiden victory at Ramsey Golf Course.

Dave Marchant, Masters Champion in 2010, was the clubhouse leader for quite some time though and it was looking like he may be regaining the Green Jacket but he had to settle for joint 2nd in the end, alongside Neil Hilliard and Rob Townsend, all 3 scoring an impressive 37 points.  Special mention go to Neil and Rob, who both finished in their highest position on tour and both secured a Ryder Cup place in their respective teams on the back of their great performances.

Ady Talbot continued his great form of late with a joint 5th placed finish on 36 points, alongside the ever consistent Paul Knibb and Phil Cooper, who caps off a great debut season on tour with another top 5 finish.

24th March 2012 - Tour Champion Crowned24th March 2012 - Tour Champion Crowned

So another season is over and our third ever KC Tour Order of Merit winner is......James McAuley.

Massive congratulations to Cauley, who thoroughly deserves the coveted title having won twice this season, including a Major win with The Open title last summer.

Going into the Masters there were 3 potential Champions, with Cauley in pole position needing a top 5 finish yesterday to guarantee him the title regardless of where Brett or Rob Baxter finished.  But despite finishing joint 19th neither Brett or Rob could take advantage and Cauley wins the Order of Merit by 11 points, with Rob in second place.  Dave Marchant (our first ever Order of Merit winner) snuck into third place, with his impressive Masters performance, pushing Brett down into fourth spot overall.

24th March 2012 - Tour Championship Decider Day24th March 2012 - Tour Championship Decider Day

The final tournament of the 2011/2012 season would decide a new KC Tour Champion. After an excellent season 3 challengers were left to take the crown, Rob Baxter, James McAuley and Brett Beadsworth. All would be worthy winners after having great seasons on the tour.

25th February 2012 - Ansty Championship 25th February 2012 - Ansty Championship

Well what can we say about today's event the Ansty Championship.......well we had some cracking weather, we saw the return of the Burdman, Jack Watts gave us one of the best moments ever seen on the first tee of a tour event and Tony Hyde finally removed the monkey from his back with a truly well deserved maiden victory on the KC Tour.

Tony wins the title after hitting a gross 74 - 3 over par - to record an amazing 42 points off his 9 handicap. 11 pars and 2 birdies made up Tony's exceptional round and by far the lowest gross score we have seen on tour to date.  Huge congratulations to Tony, who becomes the first Red winner since Rich Cowley's Masters victory in March 2011.

Joe Chester hit a great 41 points for the runners-up spot and perhaps on another day may have been walking away with the winners trophy, although he did take away £44 on the nearest the pin as a consolation.

Micky Dainty finished in third place with 38 points and the top 5 positions were completed by Andy Lewis, Ady Talbot, Dave Marchant, Neil Strutt and Rob Baxter, all joint fourth on 36 points.

So how has all this effected the Order of Merit?  Well with neither Cauley or Brett finishing very high up the places, Rob Baxter took the opportunity to catch up on the top 2 and in fact takes over in second place from Brett.  It is now down to one of these three for the title, with just the Masters remaining, so our final event of the season will decide our 2011/12 victor.

Massive congratulations to Smurf, Rich Coowar and Kieron on winning this years scramble with a huge 12 under par net round of 59.  With just 3 bogeys in the round which otherwise consisted of all gross pars and 1 birdie, it was a brilliant effort by the 3 guys and a thoroughly deserved victory.

  • Most Improved Golfer - Barry Wilkinson
  • Hacker of the Year - Kieron Rebhan
  • Best Newcomer - Micky Dainty

19th November 2011 - Greetham Valley Invitational19th November 2011 - Greetham Valley Invitational

The Greetham Valley Invitational started off pretty murky but as the sun shone through, so Cauley emerged from the fog to claim his second win of the season with a 38 point stableford total.

Once the mist disappeared it became a wonderful November's day and Cauley's golf at present is equally impressive and he becomes the first ever player on tour to win 2 events in the same season.  With 4 pars and numerous bogeys, Cauley yet again proved his golf is becoming as consistent as anyone on tour at present.

Guy Maddison secured his best ever tour performance with second place on 37 points and there were 4 players tied in third place on 36 points - Bill Welland, Dave Marchant, Paul Knibb and Gareth Cowley, who continued his great form at Greetham.

Special mentions aswell to Strutty (my Texas Scramble partner....we are gonna kick ass!) who returned to the tour with an impressive 35 points and joint 7th and Brian Conn who produced his best round since joining the tour to also register 35 points for joint 7th.
